[SOLVED]: iPhone Camera Not Working

iphone camera not working

There are a lot of problems that you can face with your iPhone Camera. Today, we are going to focus on the following problems. If you are having any of these problems, you can just click on them and directly reach the part of this article where we have mentioned the methods to resolve the issue.

Your photos are blurry: What to do?

Some of the iPhone users have reported on the iPhone forums that their photos captured using their iPhone were blurred, out of focus or had dark spots on them. If you are having the same problem as them, here are some solutions you might want to try out to prevent the blurry photos.

Method 1:

Before getting started, you need to make sure that your iPhone camera lens is free-of-dust. If you it isn’t clean, you might try a microfiber cloth to clean the lens. But, you might also be seeing dirt inside the camera lens. If you are seeing such condition, you’d better take it to the authorized Apple products dealer in your area or an Apple Retail Store to clean the dust.

Method 2:

If your iPhone camera lens is clean and still the photos are blurry, you might be using an iPhone model that includes the optical image optimization feature. If that’s the case, the metallic case you are using on your iPhone or the magnetic lens might be causing an issue with the image optimization feature. So, it is recommended to try capturing a photo without using the metallic case or magnetic lens. If the photo is still blurry, you shall jump over to the third method.

Method 3:

If you tried to focus your camera on a specific person or an object, then the photo might come blurry if you do things wrong. To do it in the right way, you need to tap on that object in the camera preview screen. When you do that, you’d be seeing the screen pulse, or just go in or out of of focus when the camera is adjusted. If you are capturing a photo, then in photo mode, you need to make sure that the camera is steady while you are adjusting the focus. If you are in a large distance, the camera would automatically focus at the center. If you are capturing a video, then in video mode, it is recommended to adjust the camera focus before you start recording.

Method 4: The Final Steps to Resolve this Issue

If you are still facing the blurry photo issue, here are some of the methods that you might want to follow to resolve this issue.

  • You can set your iPhone camera to Auto mode.
  • You can close other apps running in the background while using the iPhone camera app.
  • You shall also reset all the iPhone settings to default settings. To do so, you can go to the ‘Settings‘ and select ‘General‘, then click on “Reset All Settings“.

Now, you can try using the iPhone camera to check whether the photo is still blurry or not. If the issue isn’t resolved yet, you can contact the Apple Support or write it down to us in the comments.

Your iPhone Camera flash isn’t working: How to Fix?

If your iPhone camera flash isn’t working, here are some methods that you shall follow to make the flash start working as usual.

Method 1:

Before getting started, you can go to the iPhone Control Center to check the iPhone LED Flash. You might want to try switching the flashlight OFF and then turning it ON again. If the LED flash isn’t working as a flashlight, you can contact the Apple Support for further assistance.

Method 2:

The another condition you might be facing could be the iPhone camera flash going off every time you capture a photo. If that’s the issue, you shall check your iPhone flash settings. To do so, you can tap at the upper left part of your iPhone screen and select a different setting.

Method 3:

You might also be getting a message that tells you that the iPhone flash is disabled. This usually happens when you record an extended video with the camera flash ON. You might also see this message when you are using your iPhone in a place where there is very high temperature. To resolve this issue, you shall need to wait till your iPhone cools down.

Method 4:

If your iPhone camera has access to your location, this could be causing the issue. To disable it, you need to go to the ‘Settings‘, then select ‘Privacy‘ and then select ‘Location Services‘ and finally choose ‘Never‘.

Method 5:

Some users have reported that this issue was resolved when they just restarted their device. You might be able to resolve it just by restarting your device too. To do so, you can click on the Power and Home button and if you are using iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, then you can press the Power and Volume down button.

You aren’t seeing the Camera app: How to Find?

The iPhone Camera app is always available on your Home screen. If you aren’t getting the app on your Home screen, you shall check your iPhone Settings to see if the app is blocked. If the app isn’t blocked, you can just search for it using the Spotlight search.

To check if the Camera app is blocked or not, you shall go through the instructions below:

  1. First, you need to go to the ‘Settings’.
  2. Then, you need to select ‘General’.
  3. Now, you need to click on ‘Restrictions’.
  4. You will find out the allowed apps and restricted apps. You need to make sure that the toogle button next to the Camera app is ON, which means the app is allowed. If the button is OFF, click on it to turn it ON.

Now, you can easily access your Camera app from the Home screen.

If the app isn’t blocked, but still you aren’t seeing the app on your Home screen, then you need to search the app through the Spotlight search. To do so, you can follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. First, you need to drag down from the middle of the iPhone Home screen.
  2. Now, you have to enter ‘camera’ in the search box.
  3. You will find the Camera app there. You just need to click on it load the iPhone Camera app.

If you aren’t seeing the iPhone Camera app yet, you can seek for other alternative Camera apps for your device.

Your camera shows black screen or closed lens: Here’s the solution!

If the Camera app is showing you a black screen or a closed lens, then it is recommended for you to try the following methods.

Method 1:

You need to make sure that there’s nothing that’s blocking your camera lens. To be sure about it, you need to make sure that your iPhone case isn’t hiding the lens. If it is, then you can try removing the case and using the Camera app to know whether the issue is resolved or not.

Method 2:

Some people who shared their experience in the iPhone forums have claimed that forcing the app to close helped them resolve the issue. It might help you too. You can just force the Camera app to close and then open the app again to see whether the issue is fixed or not.

Method 3:

When one of my friends had this issue, he just restarted his device and the issue was gone. You can also try restarting your device by clicking on the Power and Home button and if you are using iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, then you can press the Power and Volume down button. After restarting your device, you can just open the Camera app to see if the problem is resolved.

Method 4:

If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, you can try using both the cameras. If the issue is seen on both cameras, you can try the first three methods. But, if you are getting the black screen or the closed lens just on a single camera, either front or rear, then there might be a problem with your lens. In that case, it is recommended to take your device to the authorized iPhone dealer or the nearest Apple Retail Store for further assistance.

    Hi,
Have tried the factory reset, and sadly my camera still isn’t working. Additionally the light isn’t working either.

I presume I’m going to have to take my phone into an approved Apple repairer, but wanted to check there wasn’t another solution. It’s an iPhone 7 Plus.

    Thanks

Both front and rear cameras are black screens and flashlight is not working and goes to a color wheel. I have tried everything listed above, short of doing the the one where you need to backup all your information. I don’t know how to backup everything. I’m scared I’ll lose all my pictures. I have insurance, so maybe I should just get the phone replaced, but then I still lose everything on my phone. I’m still fairly new to the operation of the iPhone 6. Thanks in advance for any help you could provide me.

If you have got icloud or other storage just upload all your stuffs there and change your phone and next time when you use the same icloud login your photos will be there in the icloud as a backup.

I take a picture on the app Snapchat and I see what I took a picture of for a split second and it goes black for the rear and front facing camera. I’ve tried to delete Snapchat and redownload it and I’ve hard restarted my iPhone 5c
